CLASSES ON THE TEXT OF A COURSE IN MIRACLES

The series begins with a general introduction to the series and to the text itself — its form (the way it is written) and its content (what it says). The introductory class shows how A Course in Miracles, unlike most linearly structured texts, is symphonically presented, with its themes and principles woven into the teachings throughout, much the same as leitmotifs are woven into the fabric of a musical composition. The Course is thus seen as the perfect integration of form and content, a framework within which the prominent principles and themes in each chapter are presented in succeeding classes.
Classes are held at the Center and run approximately 3 hours with a 30-minute break and will include a question-and-answer period. Pre-registration is encouraged as seating is limited. See specific sessions below:

INTRODUCTION TO A COURSE IN MIRACLES

This class will be held the first Saturday of each month from 2-4pm. Dates for 2013 include January 5, Feburary 2, March 2, April 6, May 4, June 1, July 6, August 3, September 7, October 5, November 2, and December 7.
This 3-part talk by Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D. is intended for those new to the Course, as well as for those who could benefit from such an overview. Sections include:
- How It Came: The roles of Helen Schucman and William Thetford in the scribing;
- What It Is: The three books of A Course in Miracles, the two supplements, and Helen’s inspired poetry; and
- What It Says: The major themes, reflecting the integration of the Course’s metaphysics with guidelines for living in the world under the Holy Spirit’s principle of forgiveness.
Included in this presentation will be an 18–minute segment produced for the PBS series, The Visionaries, narrated by Sam Waterston. Registration not required.
EVENING STUDY GROUPS ON A COURSE IN MIRACLES
Study groups are held Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm (except December 25, 26, 31 and January 1).
The Center conducts twice weekly 90-minute discussion and study groups. These sessions are facilitated by the Center staff.
